PRESS TALK: IT'S BEEN TOUGH - JONES

Posted on: Sat 05 Sep 2009
Hoping to make his comeback from injury against Crystal Palace next Saturday, Iron defender Rob Jones admits that it has been a tough start to Championship life for himself.

The 29-year-old centre-back has told the Scunthorpe Telegraph that football at second tier level has been harder than he initially thought.

However, he told the newspaper that he is getting more comfortable and can't wait to play again.

He said: "I've never played in this division before, I've been out of English football for three years, so it was going to be difficult.

"But now I understand how the league is going to be, how difficult it is and how strong you need to be."

Jones has missed the last two games after suffering concussion in the 4-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Elsewhere, winger Garry Thompson has also told the newspaper that he is itching to play first team football for Scunthorpe in the Championship this season.
