Iron boss Nigel Adkins has admitted his disappointment that Arsenal prodigy Henri Lansbury has joined Championship rivals Watford on loan.

United wanted to re-sign the midfielder, who shone in a three-month loan spell towards the end of last season, on a temporary basis once again.

"I spoke to Henri within the last week and he told me he was going to come back to Scunthorpe," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"To say I am disappointed that he has joined Watford is a real understatement to say the least.

"It just goes to show that no deal is ever completed until the player has put his name to that piece of paper."
