Manager Nigel Adkins knows he will need to 'nurse' central defender Kenny Milne carefully through pre-season training. "The aim is to have him ready for our opening match of the new season at Cardiff in 39 days time" said the Scunthorpe United boss.

Ipswich Town midfielder Liam Trotter has ended doubts over his future by signing a new contract at Portman Road. Trotter had been unsure if he would be staying with Town following the appointment of Roy Keane as the club's new manager. He finished last season on loan at Scunthorpe United and was wanted back at Glanford Park by Iron boss Nigel Adkins.

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins continues to hold his cards close to his chest in his transfer dealings. One central defender Adkins is known to have shown an interest in is Sam Collins of Hartlepool. He inquired about him during the January transfer window.

Scunthorpe are hopeful Joe Murphy, Kevan Hurst and Ian Morris will all commit their futures by penning new deals. The trio are all now out of contract and are free to move on but Adkins is confident of securing their futures after holding talks over the summer break.
