Iron winger Kevan Hurst says he has matured this season, following his spell out of the side.

The 23-year-old admits that he did not react as well as that last season, but feels under the tutorlege of Nigel Adkins has has improved as a person.

"It has been a frustrating time for me, of course it has" Hurst told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"It's frustrating for any player, not just myself because if you're used to playing week in, week out, you always want to do that.

"When you're not, it's difficult, but you have to get your head around it and be patient.

"I think I've grown up a bit this season. When I got dropped last year I think maybe I sulked a little bit, which is not the right thing to do.

"The gaffer has taught me to be more patient and I feel a better player for that. I feel more experienced and able to deal with those sorts of situations."
