Worries that leading marksman Gary Hooper could be out for six months with a fractured foot have been allayed after it was discovered that he had only suffered heavy bruising.

The nine goal top scorer remains a doubt for Scunthorpe's match at home to Swindon on Saturday, but manager Nigel Adkins is naturally relieved.

He told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's just badly bruised so we'll treat that accordingly but the big thing is there's no break.

"The worry was he could be out for up to 27 weeks but he's touch and go for Saturday's game against Swindon."
