STADIUM PLANS ON HOLD
Iron chairman Steve Wharton says the club have put on hold their plans to move to a new stadium due to the credit crunch.
"I would say the chances are still there, but it's gone back a long, long way," Wharton told BBC Radio Humberside.
"I can't see this present recession ending in the housing side of things for four or five years. So we can't even start thinking about it until then.
"It's a long time to wait, so we will certainly be making sure that this ground is well looked after because I think we will be here for a very long time.
"In the present financial climate, I feel it's a case of looking after what we've got and not making any major plans until this financial crisis has settled down."
Meanwhile, the Scunthorpe supremo says United are on course for record profits when the club accounts are unveiled ahead of the upcoming AGM.
"I think, if anything, we will be criticised for having too good a balance sheet," he added.
"The results this year will be fantastic. Obviously, that's because Martin Paterson was sold before the year end, and Billy Sharp's sale also comes into this year's accounts. So our accounts will look extremely healthy."
