Defender Krystian Pearce has handed acclaim to the management of Nigel Adkins since his arrival two months ago.

The signing of the on-loan Birmingham centre-back coincided with an upturn in form for Scunthorpe, and Pearce - an England U19 international - has praised the stewardship of Adkins, citing it as a major reason for the turnaround.

"He's one of the best managers I've worked with, he's right up there," Pearce told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"He's been good to me so far and hopefully we can continue that good relationship.

"He's always smiling, he's always happy and keen to talk to you and let you know how you've done and what you need to do to improve."
