Striker Gary Hooper has revealed why he didn't celebrate his winning goal at Hereford Town on Saturday.

The seven-goal leading marksman felt he owed it to the Bulls not to rub salt into theirn wounds as the defeat saw them stuck at the foot of the table.

A loan spell with the Edgar Street club last season kickstarted his career, as he scored 12 goals in 19 games to help them win promotion from League Two.

He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I didn't celebrate because they were good to me when I was on loan here.

"I heard them cheering me and clapping me at the start of the game so I didn't celebrate. Hopefully they can avoid relegation.

"My spell on loan here - when I scored 12 goals - got me my move to Scunthorpe.

"I've got seven league goals and more to come. Hopefully I'll get one on Saturday against Yeovil. "
