Freescoring Iron midfielder Martyn Woolford is already one step of the way towards his target of 15 goals for the season.

The winger beat that tally while with York City in the Conference last season, but believes the figure would be an excellent return for his first season as a Football League player.

He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I started on Tuesday in the cup a little bit nervous and a little bit edgey at times. I was a little bit disappointed with the performance as well.

"I played a little bit better on Saturday and I think I'll settle into the team quite nicely eventually.

"It was a dream debut. It's always nice to get off the mark with goals.

"I've set myself a target of about 15. I got 17 last season, so if I get close to that I'll be pleased.

"I was a little bit more pleased with my performance on Saturday but it can still be improved."
