New recruit Michael Lea has warned Iron team-mate Marcus Williams he is not at Glanford Park to simply make up the numbers.The 20-year-old full-back, who signed a one-year deal with Scunthorpe United at the end of last week, is adamant he will put the work in to try and establish himself as the club's first-choice left-back.

Defender Mark Byrnes is in Port Macquarie today training with Newcastle Jets. Byrnes, 26, formerly a Joeys skipper in 1999, is hoping to impress Jets boss Gary Van Egmond at a time when transfer speculation continues to swirl around the future of Jets captain and central defender Jade North. The former Perth Glory, Salzburg and Vicenza defender has been playing in the NSW premier league with Leichhardt but recently turned down a short-term move to English League One side Scunthorpe.

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins insists he will not rush Joe Murphy back - although the goalkeeper's injury may not be as serious as first feared.Murphy was initially expected to miss around six weeks and, even though the club believe this was an overestimate, they have not yet set a likely date for his return.
