Nicky Colgan has admitted that he might be tempted home to Ireland if he could secure full-time football with an eircom League club. The 34-year-old wants to play on until he is 40 at least, feeling at present that he is too young to accept the post of goalkeeping coach offered to him by Ipswich Town. Colgan, capped nine times for Ireland, has reportedly spoken to League One side Scunthorpe and League Two outfit Bradford City.

Former Leyton Orient winger Wayne Corden could become Oxford United boss Darren Patterson's next signing. The 32-year-old arrived on trial at the Blue Square Premier club yesterday, and will get a chance to impress in United's pre-season friendly at Maidenhead United today. Corden started his career at Port Vale, before moving on a free transfer to Mansfield Town where he became a crowd favourite. He moved on to Scunthorpe following a row with Mansfield manager Carlton Palmer.

Defender Marcus Williams has finally ended speculation about his Scunthorpe future by signing a new two-year contract with the League One club. Discussions on a fresh deal for the 22-year-old started in May 2007.

Scunthorpe United's summer signing revealed his singing prowess in front of his Iron team-mates at last week's training camp in Leicester, standing up on a chair to sing Mr Brightside by The Killers as he broke the ice with his team-mates.
