Scunthorpe United right-back Cliff Byrne has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Glanford Park until 2010. The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, 26, joined the Iron from Sunderland in 2003, having previously spent a loan spell with the club.

The 31-year-old Jamaican international, who is married to pop star Jamelia, was snapped up on a free transfer after coming to the end of his contract at Bristol City who reached the Championship promotion play-off final last season.
