Confirmned Iron target Gary Hooper has three of United's League One rivals chasing his signature, report the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
The 20-year-old Southend striker, who enjoyed a goal-laden loan spell at Hereford United towards the end of last season, is also been targeted by the Bulls, Cheltenham Town and Stockport County.
Manager Nigel Adkins told the newspaper: "When our bid was accepted by Southend there was no interest from these two other clubs.
"Gary has now got to sit down with his agent today and decide which he feels is the best move for him.
"We had some very positive talks with him when he came to Glanford Park on Wednesday and I would like to think there is still a good chance of him coming here."
Elsewhere, BBC Radio Humberside report that Cheltenham striker Steven Gillespie, another confirmed Scunthorpe target, has handed in a transfer request.
