A round-up of Monday's Iron-related stories in the local and national media:

United boss Nigel Adkins has spoken of his disappointment in the way striker Martin Paterson has conducted himself as he looks set to complete a move to Burnley this week.

The 21-year-old frontman looks set to sign for the Clarets in a £1.3-million deal, and last season's 14-goal top scorer leaves behind a big gap for Adkins as he looks to mount a League One promotion challenge.

"I am bitterly, bitterly disappointed, first and foremost with the way Martin has conducted himself," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"He is a young boy with a lot of ability, but with still a heck of a lot to learn.

"We wanted to have him at this club to give ourselves the best opportunity of success next season.

"But the way it has been driven has left this club with no alternative but to accept this offer."

Meanwhile, Paterson has apologised to the club's supporters for the manner of his likely departure.

He told the newspaper: "I wish it could have been done quietly and professionally.

"Instead I've upset the fans, which I didn't want to do."

BBC Radio Humberside report that Adkins will meet up with acting chairman Rex Garton later in the week to discuss how the money will be spent.

They also say the manager has become an early contender for the managerial post at MK Dons after Paul Ince was appointed as boss of Blackburn.
