The Old Show Ground was Scunthorpe United's proud home until they pioneered the movement to a new ground in 1988, when the Club switched to its current home Glanford Park. This was the first time in over 30 years that an English team had moved to a new purpose built stadium.

In addition to this innovation, the ground was the first in England to have a cantilever stand, which was built in 1958.

Situated in the centre of Scunthorpe, at the junction of Doncaster Road and Henderson Avenue, in its prime it was a thriving hotbed for second division football - overseeing the glory days of the early 1960's.

As part of the relocation deal the site was sold to the supermarket chain Safeway who constructed a store on the site. After Safeway were taken over in 2004 by Morrisons the store was subsequently sold to Sainsbury's, which is still in place today.

Lots of clubs have since followed the Iron and left their home behind.
