When the Iron hosted Tranmere Rovers in October 2011, Burton-upon-Stather primary school attended for their long awaited 'Big Day Out', and United are offering the same experience to all local schools.

A couple of weeks prior, players and management staff attended Burton upon Stather primary school for a signing session and a question and answer assembly with the pupils, who in turn were given the opportunity to win a prize to be a flag bearer for the Iron's home game with Tranmere.

All who attended on the day had a fantastic time and enjoyed the Family Football Festival activities that were happening at the same time.

The Family Football Festival saw all sorts of fun take place, such as face painting.

Scunthorpe United are looking to extend this successful scheme through the local schools of Scunthorpe across the season.
