CLUB STATEMENT: ANDY BUTLER

Posted on: Fri 27 Jun 2008

Andy Butler has held further talks with the management of Scunthorpe United today.

Despite being offered a very good package by United, which Butler says really demonstrated how much the club wanted to keep him, he has decided to leave Glanford Park.

He commented that he had received an even better offer from another club.

He said: "It's gutting to leave - this is like a second home, but this is the right move for me and my family."

The club wish Andy all the best for the future.

Nigel Adkins will turn his attentions to finding a replacement, and will continue to strengthen his squad in preparation for the forthcoming League One season - which starts with a home fixture against Leeds United on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 12noon kick-off.

Iron World subscribers can hear an exclusive final interview with the centre-back.
