YOUTHS DRAW 2-2 WITH DONCASTER

25 October 2014

Last Saturday saw us draw 2-2 with Doncaster Rovers.

We started the game really well and we were very pleased with our first half performance because we passed the ball very well and scored a good goal.

We took the lead from a quick free kick when Emilio Stothard played in Noel Burdett, who did really well to pick out Charlie Cleminshaw at the far post. We had a couple of other chances that we perhaps could have done better with.

We went in a goal up at half-time and were pleased with that. To be fair to Doncaster, they came back into it in the second half and put us under a lot of pressure. Towards the end of that good spell they had, they not only scored one but got a second one shortly after.

To be fair to our boys I thought that we showed a lot of character and determination, and we literally scored with the last kick of the game - a free-kick from Levi Sutton to the far post found Jacob Hood, who headed back and Jack Dyche got the diving header to make it 2-2.

We were pleased to get the equaliser because we felt we deserved at least a point from the game. It was a good, competitive game between two decent teams and it was a tough match for our boys and a good learning curve. We played as a team, worked hard and stuck together when we needed to.
