WILLIAMS LOAN STAY EXTENDED

26 November 2014

The Iron can confirm that midfielder Luke Williams will remain on loan at the club until at least January 3.

That comes after a deal was finalised to extend the Middlesbrough player’s loan beyond its initial month, bringing him into the New Year as an Iron player. So far in his spell with the club he has played three games, scoring one goal.

Assistant manager Ned Kelly, speaking on Tuesday lunchtime, spoke about the extension and also hinted about a possible further extension beyond January 3.

“He continued to train with the lads in the last couple of games (despite his initial month expiring on Saturday,” explained Kelly.

“He’s looking forward to the weekend and we’ve got him until January now. We’ll look to get to that position (extending it further) at the time and speak to the player and the club.”

In his current loan deal, he is due to return to parent club Middlesbrough following the home league fixture with Barnsley (pending any third round involvement United may have in the FA Cup).
