WILCOX DELIGHTED WITH BRISLEY SWOOP

25 September 2014

Iron manager Russ Wilcox is delighted to have completed the loan signing of Peterborough defender Shaun Brisley.

The 24-year-old centre-back signed on Thursday and goes straight into the squad for the away clash at Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

He will stay with the club for a month, with the loan expiring on Saturday, October 25.

"We're really pleased to have signed him," Wilcox told The Iron Player.

"We have Miguel Llera suspended for the weekend so we've acted on that.

"He brings more competition in there. He played 32 games last season in League One and we're surprised we've got him.

"Myself, Lee Turnbull, the chairman and a couple of other people put a few names together, and was right at the top of our list - though we didn't expect to get him.

"He's played four games this season in League One - two of them against Milton Keynes Dons and Sheffield United.

"He's up to speed and trained with the group on Thursday morning. He's a smashing lad and it's great to have him on board.

"He's ready to play on Saturday, which is good.

"He has come to play some games. We have Llera's suspension and Shaun gives us a bit more strength in that position."
