WE'RE READY TO KICK ON

6 March 2015

Iron goalkeeper Luke Daniels says his side know what they have to do, as they prepare to face Crewe at the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday.

United travel to Crewe on the back of a 2-2 draw against Fleetwood on Tuesday night, a game Scunthorpe came back from twice as Gary McSheffrey and George Evans fired the Iron level on two occasions.

Daniels believes the Iron were good value for the point after going behind early on, and it shows the fight the team have to earn the points.

Daniels told The Iron Player: “I thought we played well. Obviously there was a set-back early on.”

He continued: “We gave away a disappointing goal, I thought from then we played really well and we were good value for the point. Especially as Fleetwood are a decent side.

“We’ve not been happy in the last couple of weeks in how the results have gone, but coming back to level the game twice showed the grit that team have got, that we managed to do that twice.

“I thought we could have won the game, we had chances to win the game. However, they also had chances. I’d say it was a fair result in the end."

It was two midfielders who bagged the goals for the Iron in midweek and, with players scoring from all areas of the pitch in recent games, Daniels is pleased to see goals coming from a variety of positions.

He said: “We have obviously got a goal threat within the forward areas.

“With the lads from midfield and with Nazza (Canavan) scoring a few recently, if we can chip in with goals from everywhere, it help the likes of Madden, Hopper and van Veen."

Luke Daniels has been ever present in the Scunthorpe net since joining the club during the January transfer window, something the goalkeeper is happy about.

He said: “When I came here, I wanted to play games. We’ve had so many games thick and fast, it has been really good for me. I am enjoying my time here."

Next up for the Iron is Crewe, and Daniels said the team have to focus on their own game as they look to secure all three points. He continued by discussing the belief the team have in their own ability.

He said: “We have been in this week, we have trained well. We are in a good position to go and kick on. We had lost a couple on the bounce and we have gone on to draw a couple in recent games, so hopefully we can kick on and get three points.

“We know what we have got to do. We just need to focus on that.”

He continued: “It is one of those, we know we are a good side, we know we have got goals in us. Defensively we need to make sure we are a bit tighter at the back and just take our chances really. We need to take a few more really."
