WE MADE NO SECRET THAT WE WANTED HIM BACK

2 July 2015

Iron manager Mark Robins is delighted to have completed the signing of Middlesbrough attacker Luke Williams.

He was one of Robins' first signings for the club, back in October last year, joining on loan from Middlesbrough and impressing, scoring twice in six games.

An injury cut the spell short and Football League loan rules stipulated we couldn't re-sign the 22-year-old on loan.

However, Robins is delighted to have made his eighth addition of the summer and believes Williams is a player who can help the Iron become a force in League One.

"Luke is somebody we know well. He came in last year and did very well for us," Robins told Scunthorpe-United.co.uk.

"He had subsequent loan spells at Coventry and Peterborough.

"We made no secret of the fact we wanted to bring him back last season but it wasn't to be.

"We're pleased now to have finally brought him to the club, and certainly great credit has to go to the chairman and the directors for allowing us to bring Luke in.

"We know he has a lot of ability and I'm sure with hard work he will thrive here.

"We know where he can play and where he is capable of playing.

"He is coming into a squad which has a number of new faces but I am sure he will settle in well and prove an important acquisition."
