VAN VEEN PLEASED TO REGAIN THAT SCORING FEELING

1 September 2015

Kevin van Veen says there's more to come from him after scoring his first goal of the season in Saturday's 2-2 away draw at Colchester.

He opened the scoring in spectacular style with a seventh minute free-kick before Paddy Madden added a second to put United 2-0 up.

However, the hosts hit back and Scunthorpe had to settle for a point from the game.

“From my own opinion I thought I played well in the first half. Free kicks have always been my thing. I always practice them and I was happy to help the team to get that first goal on the board for us, and it feels nice to score,” he told The Iron Player HD.

“Against Millwall I thought I played well, and was unlucky with the crossbar effort. On Saturday I was happy as well, and although I can always do better I think I did well.

“At FC Oss I scored a lot, and the goal at the weekend has brought that feeling back. I want to score here a lot too.”

The Iron started the game fantastically, and had the two-goal advantage before twenty minutes had been played.

Van Veen described his thoughts on the match: “For the first 35 minutes we were really good. When they made it 2-1 we lost a little bit of our game. I’m disappointed now and it feels a little bit like a defeat.

“I’m disappointed but we have to stay positive and get the three points at home (on Saturday vs Blackpool).”

Keen to state that the players will be ready to give the reaction needed when they play the Seasiders at the weekend, van Veen said: “It is a big disappointment that we haven’t got the three points here but we are confident, because we know what we can do. We train really well and very hard, and I’m confident we will get a home three points against anybody."
