VAN VEEN FEELING GOOD AHEAD OF CUP CLASH

4 January 2016

Iron striker Kevin van Veen believes the 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic was a positive result for the team, considering the strength of the Latics' squad.

The Dutchman felt a point apiece was a fair outcome, and one which he and his team-mates can be pleased with.

He told The Iron PlayerHD: "I thought it was a good result, we played very well.

"We deserved a point, maybe a little bit more but they got some dangerous balls into our box as well, so we're happy with a point."

van Veen was introduced back into the starting eleven on Saturday, something which the United number 10 revealed gave him a great deal of elation.

As well as evaluating his own performance, van Veen paid credit to the attacking support around him too.

"I'm happy to start again, I feel good and I think I played well. Everybody was grafting, so I think everybody is happy," he said.

"To be fair, we did well, I think myself, Paddy Madden and Luke Williams were a threat.

"When we got the ball we were dangerous, and it was good to be out there."

The Iron have picked up five points from their past three games - form which the striker says should stand the squad in good stead for the test which awaits in the FA Cup clash away at Chelsea.

"I think it's positive we got five points from three games. Maybe we could have won against Rochdale as well," he added.

"But I think it's positive form to take into Chelsea, and why not? They are human.

"It's all new for me, and if I play I'll just try to play with no fear."
