assistant manager Ned Kelly has issued an update on a few of the club’s players that are likely to miss the FA Cup replay at Worcester.
Injury problems have reduced the amount of available personnel as the team travel to Aggborough as well as a handful of loanees that haven’t been given permission to feature by their individual parent clubs.Firstly speaking about the injury concerns, Kelly told The Iron Player: “Jenno (Jennison Myrie-Williams) didn’t train with the first team on Tuesday morning.
“Sheffs (Gary McSheffrey) did but he’s a doubt. We’re going to have a look at him on Wednesday but I’ll be surprised if he makes it.
“They’ve both got hamstring problems. Very minor but I just think the Worcester game might have come a couple of days too early.
“Definitely for Jenno and we’ll look at Sheffs again on Wednesday morning to see how he is but he’s an experienced pro and he knows his own body.
“It’s a little bit too soon for Mirf (David Mirfin) though so he’ll stay back.”
Loan players Luke Williams, Liam O’Neil and Richard Brindley will all definitely miss the tie meaning that at least three different faces will come into the starting line-up.
Shaun Brisley, Bobby Olejnik and Alex Davey have all been granted permission to play and so could be in contention for places in the side but Kelly remained tight lipped when discussing the options he and manager Mark Robins have regarding team selection.
“We’re trying to utilise the whole squad,” he continued.
“We’ve got a travelling group of eighteen because that’s what we’ve got left.
“Bris, Bobby and Alex are eligible but the other three aren’t so they’ll stay back and train and we’ll pick from everybody else who is fit and raring to go.
“Terry (Hawkridge) reverts back into the thoughts for right-back but we’ve got other options possibly for that position. We did a little bit of work on Tuesday in that area and we’ll do a little bit on Wednesday too before telling the players who’s plying.
“Niall (Canavan) will be involved. He’ll be travelling and in the eighteen.
“Hopefully we’ll have a full bench but if we haven’t then we haven’t. We haven’t got enough players at the moment and that’s just how it is, we just have to get on with it.”
