Mark Robins believes the fact that Leyton Orient currently lie three points adrift of safety will not affect their display as the Iron make the trip there this weekend.
Talking on The Iron Player, Robins spoke about the side’s recuperation from Tuesday’s exhausting battle with MK Dons, and that he hasn’t reviewed the game extensively until Friday, to allow the players enough time to wind down.Robins said: “We’ve not spoken about the MK Dons game yet.
"Thursday has been a day where the players have been working in the gym so we’ve not been pitch based until Friday where we will make some preparations for the game on Saturday. We’ve got Friday and Saturday up until the game to go through the points and speak about what it is we want to do, and that’ll be in place before we play this weekend.
"I’m totally clear on what we’ll be doing, what we need to do and what we’ll try to do to get the maximum points. We are away from home, and as I say league positions don’t matter, if you don’t turn up and you don’t put a performance and a shift in then you are going to get beaten.
"They are a strong squad that’s been carefully assembled, and it’s also very expensive to assemble a team like that and they’ll probably be looking to put a run together themselves. We have to be mindful of that; it’s a difficult place to go play at the best of times.
"We are just really looking forward to the games because we are in a good run of form and on our day we can be a match for anybody, and that’s been proven against Bristol City even when we didn’t win the game.”
When discussing the MK Dons game to more extent with the press, Robins was proud of both his side’s efforts, and the support of the fans, as the Iron took a point from the promotion hunting Dons, however he shared that the players were upset that they couldn’t grab a much deserved victory.
Robins said: “I felt we were excellent in that match for the whole 90 minutes, and certainly MK Dons on Tuesday night was very good second half, a spirited performance where we created a lot of chances where we probably had the better chances of the two sides, and we came away a bit disappointed we get all three points.
"I thought we finished the game off really, really well. The supporters were definitely behind us and the players absolutely appreciated that response.
"We’ve spoken about that before, we’re all quick to jump on the players backs when they’ve not been great, but they’ve been fantastic, and if they can maintain that it bodes well, and it helps a lot.”
With Leyton Orient currently four points and five places behind Scunthorpe in 22nd place, Robins wouldn’t be drawn in to false beliefs that the game would be anything but challenging on Saturday, and insists that only the best of performances would ensure the three points came back to North Lincolnshire.
Robins continued: “It’s an expensively assembled team with good players in it.
"Wherever you are in the league table it doesn’t make any difference, we have to turn up, put a performance in and that’s what the message has to be to our players and be ready for whatever they throw at us.”
