Iron manager Russ Wilcox has confirmed Gary McSheffrey and Sean McAllister are doubts ahead of the trip to Torquay United.
However, he is more hopeful over Marcus Williams.McSheffrey hobbled off with 25 minutes remaining with a hamstring injury after Sean McAllister also went off the pitch through injury.
Wilcox told The Iron Player: “Hopefully Marcus will be okay. That doesn’t look like it will be a short term injury. He has a dead leg just above the knee.
“We have a lot more concern over Sean McAllister, he has gone straight off to hospital to have his ribs checked out."
“And that is a massive concern for me,” he continued.
“The final one is Gary McSheffrey who came off with a hamstring injury.
“I can guarantee that he won’t be available next week. You don’t come back from a hamstring injury after just one week out.”
Wilcox added: “He could be out for two, three weeks or until the end of the season.”
At this stage it is far too early to say what the situation is with McAllister, however, Wilcox was remaining on the side of caution that he could miss next weekend’s trip to the south coast.
“I have no idea, we will just have to wait and see the final extent of that” the Iron boss said.
“It’s not been a great day on that side of it but the players that have been left out there have been so adaptable and so together."
“You are hoping that he just has a bruised rib or something but until you get a diagnosis on that you will have no idea,” he continued.
“I have got a number of top players that I am able to call back into the squad over the next couple of days and I’m sure I will be doing that.
“I need to add to what I have got and I can’t see Sean being available for next week if I’m being honest.”
The three injuries United sustained during Saturday’s draw with Wycombe come just two days after the loan window closed and Wilcox didn’t bring anyone new into the club as he was confident any players that are currently out on loan can do a good enough job should they be recalled.
Wilcox has confirmed that he will be waiting until they get they will be waiting on the results of McAllister’s scan before making any movement to recall Michael Collins from AFC Wimbledon.
“I certainly won’t be rushing into anything,” Wilcox stated.
“I shall wait on the scan results before making a move because we have a free week coming up before we go down to Torquay.
“I’m sure we will know in the next 24 hours what will be happening.
“If we do recall Michael we know we have a top quality player coming back into a successful team that is doing really well.”
The United manager added: “He is also fully fit as he has played a lot of games for AFC Wimbledon.”
Finally Matt Sparrow was on the wrong end of a late challenge from Matt Bloomfield.
The Wycombe man went completely over the ball before taking Sparrow out and he earned himself a caution.
Thankfully, for the Iron’s sake, Sparrow has not suffered any injury there.
“I hope Matt is fine. He’s not mentioned anything but it was a tough day at the office for us all,” Wilcox said.
