TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, BE POSITIVE AND GET ON A RUN

29 September 2015

The Iron will be looking to make it back-to-back home wins in the league this week following two defeats on their travels.

Manager Mark Robins is looking for a repeat of the performance and form from the previous home game against Coventry City just over a fortnight ago when they completely shut-out the then second placed Sky Blues, restricting them to just three shots off target all game.

“Training has been as good as it normally is,” he told The Iron PlayerHD.

“We’ve looked at what we need to do against Walsall. They’re a good side and are playing full of confidence at the minute and are in second place in the division. It will be an important and interesting game.

“Last time we were at home (against Coventry City) we won and last time out (against Southend United) we lost and should have done better. We know we need to improve, but we’ve certainly done better at home and again we are talking about mindsets and taking different decisions at certain points of the game.

“The goals we have conceded are very preventable as long as we stay with the runners and as long as we talk. We were in on Sunday and we know what we need to do to turn our fortunes around but we have to remain as positive as much as we possibly can do.”

Two home games in the next four days against Walsall and Fleetwood Town respectively and a repeat of the performance displayed last time out at Glanford Park could see the Iron jump up the division – and start to build some momentum to kick-start the campaign.

“We’ve got a good chance against Walsall,” he continued.

“We’re playing against a really good team and they’ve some good, effective players who play in a really good and entertaining way and we’re going out to try and get three points.

“We’ve got a couple of home games coming up where we’re hoping to try and maximise the points and then we can take confidence out of this moving to our next away game and then try and create a bit of momentum. It’s always good to get another game to put a defeat behind you.

“We’ve got a clear way that we are playing against Walsall. The players are aware of it and we know exactly what we want to and what we can do with the personnel we are going to put out for the game and we have to do it with positivity.

“We’ve got a challenge on our hands because we have underperformed and underachieved and we are better than we have shown. We should be on more points than we are with the performances that we have delivered; but we are not – so we need to take responsibility, be positive and get on that run.”
