STICK TOGETHER

21 August 2014

“We have to stick together,” was the message new loan signing Luke O’Neill emphasised following Tuesday night's defeat to Fleetwood Town.

The Iron lost 2-0 to last season’s League Two play-off winners, following second half goals from Jamie Proctor and Gareth Evans.

O’Neill signed for the Iron just one day before the League One clash and emphasised how import is it for the team to stick together.

“You have to go into every game thinking you are going to win,” O’Neill told The Iron Player.

“We just have to stick together and go out and put a performance on against Yeovil. If we don’t stick together we will get punished."

“I thought we did really well throughout the game. We had two sloppy moments during the game and they punished us,” he continued.

“I thought for a majority of the game we did really well and we just have to pick ourselves up now and getting going for Saturday.”

He added: “It just wasn’t our day today. We did well tonight and we just need to pick ourselves us.”

O’Neill signed on loan from Burnley just the day before the game against Fleetwood. The full-back is looking forward to his time at Glanford Park and hopes to be involved with the Iron’s League One campaign.

On his debut, O’Neill got the sponsors Man of the Match and the defender was pleased to receive the award.

He said: “I just want to play as many games as I can here really and get the experience under my belt and see what happens from there.

“It’s good to get man of the match in my first game, but I would have preferred the win. It’s always nice to know I’ve done well but like I said, I would have preferred the three points.”
