SEEKING CONSISTENCY AND QUALITY

24 October 2014

Mark Robins confirmed that he is aware of the threat Saturday’s opponents Notts County possess but says Scunthorpe can emulate the visitors’ recent form with a bit of consistency.

County are unbeaten in their last ten games but Robins said victory for the Iron could be the perfect foundation to push forward.

“I want to try and get three points on the board as soon as possible,” he said.

“Not only will that probably get us out the bottom four but also give us a solid base with four games unbeaten.

“We want to continue this run and what better way to do it than beating a team in the top six.”

Scunthorpe will be without Neal Bishop and Jennison Myrie-Williams, both of which are suspended.

Robins, when asked, remained tight-lipped on who will be replacing the two midfielders to avoid giving anything away to the opposition.

He went on to explain that there were no new injury problems, on top of the long list of casualties the Iron have suffered this campaign.

“We’ve been very unfortunate with injuries so far,” said the 44-year-old.

“It’s one of those things where in an ideal world everyone would be fit and firing but we don’t live in an ideal world.

“We’ve just got to make sure we do everything we can to put a side out there that can not only put on a performance but get the three points.”

“I’m looking for consistency and that little bit of extra quality that will take us on to a win,” he said. “Saturday provides us with that opportunity, albeit against a side that are doing well at the minute.”

He recognised that the Magpies are “a good side with a nice mix of pace, youth and experience” and that they have proved “what you can achieve with a bit of consistency and belief.”

“We have to take a leaf out of their book and emulate some of their success,” Robins said. “That’ll be through graft, determination and confidence.

“There are different areas where they are good but we’ve just got to try and ensure we’re no pushovers and that we come out confident.”
