RODWELL CONFIRMED AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

18 March 2015

Scunthorpe United are delighted to announce the appointment of James Rodwell as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Rodwell, who joins the club from fellow Sky Bet League One side Notts County, brings with him a wealth of experience in football and is a serving member of the Board of the Football League and the Council of The Football Association.

The former player joined Notts County as part of the Board of Directors that was installed when current Chairman Ray Trew assumed control at Meadow Lane in February 2010 and has been an integral part of the club’s infrastructure ever since.

Rodwell admitted that it had been with a heavy heart that he had made the decision to leave Notts County, but that the exciting opportunity ahead of him at Scunthorpe United was simply too good to turn down.

“Notts County have been an integral part of my life for the past five years, so it was always going to be a difficult decision to leave,” Rodwell explained.

“However, having spoken to Scunthorpe Chairman Peter Swann and Co Director Karin Swann, I know that they are a club very much on the up and the opportunity to realise the construction of a new state-of-the-art stadium and training complex is incredibly exciting and something that really persuaded me to make the move.

“There is so much for Scunthorpe, as a town, to be excited about with the new developments that Peter Swann is planning, but at the heart of it will be a football club that I honestly believe will be challenging at the top of the Championship and hopefully beyond in years to come.”

Scunthorpe Chairman Peter Swann said of Rodwell’s appointment: “As part of our planning for the future development of Scunthorpe United, we had to make sure that we found the right people to turn our vision into reality and I believe that James will prove to be a key member of the team as we build towards the future.

“The vast experience that James brings with him at all levels of the game will be invaluable to us in taking Scunthorpe United on to the next echelon and really giving ourselves a solid platform to develop both on and off the pitch.

“I would like to welcome James to the club and look forward to seeing what he will bring to his new role.”

Rodwell officially takes up his position as CEO of Scunthorpe United on Thursday 19 March.
