ROBINS: WE WERE VERY GOOD

31 January 2015

United set off home back from London having gained all three points in a thumping 4-1 win at Leyton Orient.

Iron boss Mark Robins spoke to The Iron Player post-match of his delight at a consummate away performance.

He said: “It was brilliant, exactly what you want from an away performance and more besides.

"Even though it was a scrappy game, there was real quality in the goals that we scored and the work that we put in.

“We were talking at half time about keeping a clean sheet so to nit-pick, it was a bit disappointing to concede from the penalty spot.

“I thought we were very good and could have won by a bit more to be honest.

“We worked hard all over the pitch, we put balls into decent areas. We got given a helping hand and their goalkeeper was a bit nervy at the beginning of the game so we tried to get the ball in and around him.”

The second half performance saw United kill their opponents off with two goals from Tom Hopper either side of that Orient consolation from the spot. Robins' ploy to push paid off, making sure the Iron did not let the O’s find a concrete route back into the game

He stated: “We let them off the hook a little bit with a couple of set plays after the second goal went in we were just trying to kill the game off before half time.

“We’ve been in that position at half time before away from home and it didn’t go as we wanted it to go so today we were making sure we were staying higher up the field to cause them problems at the other end.”
