Q&A: JAMIE NESS

27 May 2016

Jamie Ness answered questions sent in by fans for our matchday programme earlier in the season...

elliot.simpson, via Instagram, asks: Who is the best player you've played with?
JN:
“Bojan at Stoke. When he came in it was staggering because he was on a total different level. He’s got pace, tricks and loads of ability and it was a real eye opener to play alongside him.”

@jamesdraper76, via Twitter, asks: What is the best goal you have scored?
JN:
“The goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup. It was two minutes into the match and I scored a screamer. People still come up to me and talk to me about that goal so I guess it was pretty special.”

Ian Redhead, via Facebook, asks: What was the key factor when deciding to come to Scunthorpe?
JN:
“The ambition of the club really matched my ambitions. They all convinced me that this was a club with huge ambitions and I really liked that.”

ryan_55_, via Instagram, asks: Do you like playing in any other position?
JN:
“I’ve always been in central midfield except for when I was at Crewe when they played me in a more attacking role but with the strikers we have got I don’t think I’d get a game up front here!”

@stefwani, via Twitter, asks: Who is the toughest team you have come up against?
JN:
“Chelsea when I played against them in 2011. They had Frank Lampard in midfield and it was such an experience playing against a player of that calibre.”

Brianadamson, via Instagram, asks: If you could see any music artist live, who would it be?
JN:
“Mumford and Sons. I think they’d put on a good show and they’re the sort of music artist that can get a crowd going.”

@jes47b, via Twitter, asks: What is your favourite away ground in League One?
JN:
“Bramall Lane, Sheffield United’s ground. I’ve always enjoyed playing there for some reason. I’m not sure if it’s the atmosphere or pitch but I’ve always enjoyed playing there.”

Luke Hopkins, via Facebook, asks: If you weren’t a footballer what would you be?
JN:
“It would have to be something sport-based. I think being a PE teacher would be something that would interest me or maybe being a coach.”

@sam3sufc, via Instagram, asks: If you could see any sporting event live, what would it be?
JN:
“The World Cup Final because it’s the biggest sporting event in the world and the biggest game in football so it would be a special event to be at.”

Steve Ward, via Facebook, asks: What is the best goal you have ever seen?
JN:
“Zinedine Zidane’s volley in the Champions League Final at Hampden Park. It was an absolute belter and for him to produce that in the Champions League Final was special so I think that is the best goal I’ve seen.”
