Peterborough are the visitors to Glanford Park on Saturday, and the Iron will be looking to make it back-to-back wins.
Mark Robins’ side secured an impressive 2-1 win at Bury in midweek, with Luke Williams playing a starring role, netting a spectacular winner.The Iron will face a tough task against Peterborough though as their visitors have been in great form since Graham Westley took charge.
The Posh are the side to watch if you want entertainment, with 73 goals in games involving them this season.
Lee Angol has scored seven for Peterborough already, but they have goals all over the pitch, underlining why they are League One’s top scorers.
A win for the Posh could move them into the top six, but the Iron will fancy their chances having been in good form at home this season.
David Mirfin will be assessed ahead of the clash after going off a Bury with a hamstring problem. Charlie Goode came on for him in that game.
Other than that, everyone came through the midweek game unscathed.
Stephen Dawson, Jamie Ness and Tom Hopper remain absent.
Key player Jermaine Anderson is suspended for the Posh, so a lot of the creative burden will fall on diminutive playmaker Erhun Oztumer.
The 5ft 3in midfielder has been impressive for Peterborough since joining in 2014, earning himself the tag of the “Turkish Messi” from supporters.
Oztumer got his first taste of senior football at Turkish side Anadolu Üsküdar, scoring five times in his spell with the club.
Having grown up in England at the Charlton youth set-up, Oztumer returned to England in 2012 to play for Dulwich Hamlet.
He was a stand-out performer for his side, scoring 60 goals in all competitions in his two year spell at the Isthmian League side.
His form alerted Peterborough and he has already made a big impact, scoring four goals in 11 games this season as well as assisting his teammates.
The Iron emerged with a victory on Peterborough’s last trip to Glanford Park, winning 2-0 on Good Friday last season.
Paddy Madden gave United the lead just before half-time, with the ball breaking for him to slot home in the penalty area.
The Iron continued to dominate the game, creating numerous chances, but had to wait until the last 20 minutes to seal the victory.
On loan striker Theo Robinson found the net in the 73rd minute to put his side in a comfortable position and give the Iron a crucial victory.
The win pulled United three points clear of the bottom four, whilst adding a dent into Peterborough’s play-off aspirations.
