The Iron travel to Notts County on Friday night as they continue to build for the start of the League One campaign (7.45pm kick-off).
With the season only just over a week away, it will be a good test for Mark Robins and his side, even though County have recently suffered relegation to League Two.New manager Ricardo Moniz will be hoping that his side can turn in a positive performance as they look to gain promotion back into the third tier.
Tonight's squad to take on Notts County: Anyon, Assenso, Atkinson, Boyce, Burdett, Butroid, Dyche, Harding, Hawkridge, Henderson, Ledger, McAllister, McSheffrey, Mirfin, Sithole, Watkis, Wootton.
County added experience to their ranks in the summer of 2014 with the addition of Alan Smith, following his departure from MK Dons.
Smith is an experienced campaigner and not only can the former England international add quality to the County midfield, he can also provide guidance for the younger members of the squad.
He boasts an impressive playing CV, having played top flight football for Leeds United, Manchester United and Newcastle United, picking up a Premier League winners medal during his time at Old Trafford.
Having initially started out his career as a striker, Smith has reverted from a centre forward to midfielder in more recent years.
The two sides last met back in March of this year, with the score ending all sqaure at 2-2.
The Iron raced into an early lead thanks to Theo Robinson's header after 70 seconds, but Gary Jones' 25 yard strike levelled the game up on 10 minutes.
It wasn't until the 73rd minute of the game that the next goal was scored, with Hungarian Balint Bajner giving the home side the lead.
It looked as though the Iron were heading for defeat until Niall Canavan levelled things up on 86 minutes with a header.
That's how it finished and the home side would later go on to suffer relegation to the fourth tier of English football.
It's pay on the day only for away fans and they will be based in the Jimmy Sirrel Stand.
