PREVIEW: NOTTS COUNTY (A)

27 March 2015

The Iron face a trip to Notts County on Saturday and will be hoping they can bounce back and get all three points.

Mark Robins’ side fell to a 4-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Tuesday, but have a swift opportunity to bounce back at County on Saturday.

The Magpies recently sacked manager Shaun Derry following a poor run of results, and ex-Nottingham Forest boss Paul Hart has been put in interim charge of the club.

County have the worst home record in League One and only Yeovil have scored fewer goals at their own ground this campaign, with only goal difference separating them and a place in the bottom four.

They have been boosted by the loan signing of Leroy Lita though, adding depth and experience to their side following Ronan Murray’s injury, and will hope Garry Thompson can add to his 10 league goals.

Mark Robins will have to rotate his side for Saturday’s trip, with defender Miguel Llera suspended after his dismissal at Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Conor Townsend will be available for the Iron as his loan move from Hull was extended until the end of the campaign. The defender also played for the side on Tuesday.

Deadline day signing, Theo Robinson will be able to play for the Iron, following his move from fellow League One side Doncaster Rovers.

Midfielder Dave Syers netted a brace for the reserves on Wednesday in his first game since his injury sustained on the opening day, but Saturday will be too early for a first team return.

The previous meeting between the sides this season was won by County as Zeli Ismail’s late penalty ensured they left Glanford Park with three points.

The Iron’s last trip to Meadow Lane in 2012/13 ended in a 1-0 defeat, with Dean Leacock’s goal nine minutes from time secure the win for County.

Out of a total of 25 matches played between the two sides, Notts County have a better record than the Iron, winning 18 compared to Scunthorpe’s four, with three draws between the two sides.
