NOBLE-LAZARUS AND SPENCER GO BACK

2 January 2014

Iron manager Russ Wilcox has confirmed that winger Reuben Noble-Lazarus has returned to Barnsley following the conclusion of his loan spell

Meanwhile, striker Jimmy Spencer has also returned to his parent club following the conclusion of his loan spell.

Lazarus returns to Barnsley after suffering an injury that restricted his time to just four appearances for the club.

Wilcox told The Iron Player: “Reuben’s time with us has now come to an end. He has been unfortunate during his time here due to the injury that he sustained.

"He is disappointed with it himself and I spoke to him and he is not quite there so there was no point in rushing him back just for one game.

“With Barnsley now having a new manager in he will want to go back there and try and prove himself to Danny Wilson.”

He has also returned to his parent club, Huddersfield Town, after seeing his three month loan spell with the Iron come to an end.

Spencer’s only goal for the Iron came during the 4-0 win at Rochdale back in November.

“Jimmy will be heading back to his parent club,” the United boss confirmed.

“I thanked him the other day for his services to the club. He has done okay during his time with us, he has worked really hard for us and it has not quite happened for him while he has been here.

“He is still 22 and he is a good player.”

Wilcox added: “He will get another chance with a different club. He has been great to have around the place and he is a bubbly character.”

Meanwhile the United manager confirmed that he is keen on extending defender Marcus Williams’ stay with the Iron.

“He has been great for us. He hasn’t played left back for us yet. He has played one up and everyone can see the job that he has been doing for us," he added.

“Him and Eddie are playing really well down that left hand side.”

Wilcox added: “They are changing and it gives Nolan the chance to get forward and then Marcus can sit back and vice-versa.”
