MORE MILES FOR IRON FANS NEXT SEASON

30 May 2016

United fans will put in more miles following their team in Sky Bet League One next season - 920 more than in the last campaign in fact.

Last season, Scunthorpe travelled 5,270 miles both ways in the 23 regular away league games.

That was 466 less than the season that preceded it, with 5,736 miles travelled in total in 2014/15.

In 2016/17 though, supporters going to every away match will travel 6,190 miles to support the Iron.

The relegation of Doncaster Rovers to League Two, last season's shortest trip, along with the promotions of Bristol Rovers and AFC Wimbledon from League Two and also the relegation of Charlton Athletic from the Championship sees the mileage figures rise.

Our shortest trip for the forthcoming campaign will be to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane, which is just 44 miles, with just nine games out of the 23 under 100 miles.

The longest away day of the campaign will be the 232-mile journey to Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium.
