United defender David Mirfin has stated he and his team-mates must guard against complacency, when they take on Southend United at Glanford Park this Saturday.
Mirfin has been part of an Iron side which has put together back-to-back victories, with wins against both Colchester United and Coventry City, but he insists another good display is required against the Shrimpers.He told The Iron PlayerHD: "The biggest fear is becoming complacent, especially when we've had the two results we've had.
"It's happened this season before where we've had a couple of good results, and we just seem to have a setback afterwards.
"So I think the key thing is to keep on top of standards in training and make sure the lads get the best out of each other."
Joint caretaker duo Nick Daws and Andy Dawson have a 100% record in their tenure so far, and Mirfin paid tribute to the job which they've done.
"A lot of credit has got to go to Nick (Daws) and Andy (Dawson), because they've kept things ticking over. They've implemented one or two of their own things," he said.
"The lads have done it to a tee. I think the first half against Colchester was a little disappointing, but in the second half and the game away at Coventry we were delighted with not only the result but the performance as well."
David Mirfin is hoping a further run of good results can put the Iron in the play-off picture.
He reiterated however, that the clash with Phil Brown's side is sure to be a testing one. They too, like the Iron, are coming into the game off the back of a good run of form.
In Mirfin's eyes though, the onus is on the Iron to stamp their authority on proceedings, and take another positive step in League One.
He said: "When you get to this stage of the season, you start thinking where teams are going to end up come May, and I think every game now is going to be a tough game.
"Southend are on a good run, they've won three out of their last four. Both games against them were tough, so we know it's not going to be an easy afternoon.
"But it's more about us now, and keeping the momentum going and hopefully we can make it three wins out of three."
