Iron boss Mark Robins is hoping that his side can make home advantage count in their cup replay with Leyton Orient.
United drew the original tie, and now have a chance to make the third round with Premier League champions Chelsea awaiting the winner.Robins was keen not to get too carried away though and was aware of the potential threats that visitors Leyton Orient could pose.
Robins told The Iron PlayerHD: “It is a massive carrot for both teams, so it will be a scrap to get through.
“You can’t look beyond Tuesday, but it will be a great incentive to get through and play the current league champions. It might only come round once in a career so you have to do all you can to get through.
“Some of the play on Saturday (in the 1-1 draw at Port Vale) was good, and I think we gave everything we could. There were some decent passages of play on what was a heavy pitch.
“You’ve got to look to attack them, but not be too open so it will be a really good cup tie. It will be interesting to see what they do, and we have to make our home advantage count.”
Orient have enjoyed a good start to their League Two campaign, but Robins was confident the Iron could nullify their threats.
He said: “We’ve got to try and play our game and make sure we are moving the ball forwards when we can. If we can’t do that, then we have to be patient and keep possession.
“They have a considerable attacking threat, with Jay Simpson, Jobi McAnuff and John Marquis. We know what they are capable of and we will deal with that.
“I think it is great to be at home. We didn’t play great away, but we are in the hat so now it is up to us to do what we can to get through.
“We have threats of our own and I want them to transfer what they do in training into the game. We have two good home games that we should look forward to in this next week.”
The Iron boss also confirmed that a few players were carrying knocks from the weekend, but he was confident he would have a strong side available.
Robins said: “One or two have knocks from the weekend, but we should be in a fairly decent state. The pitch was heavy so it was to be expected. I thought both sides gave it a real go, and we got a good response in what were horrendous conditions.”
