MADDEN FEELING CONFIDENT AHEAD OF POSH CLASH

27 November 2015

United's Paddy Madden says that to come away from Gigg Lane with all three points was massive for the team.

The Iron were 2-1 victors over Bury, and Madden praised the way he and his fellow team-mates ground out the victory.

"It was a massive result for us. It could have gone either way really. Both teams had a lot of chances, but luckily we came out on top," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"Bury's always a tough place to go. They're a well-organised team, and we needed to roll the sleeves up a bit.

"They had quite a few chances in the second half, which we did as well. It could have gone either way, but we showed good character and a great bit of quality to win the game from Luke (Williams)."

The Irishman put the Iron ahead from the penalty spot against the Shakers, to take his season tally up to 13 goals.

In spite of his impressive strike rate though, Madden insists the main concern for him is how well the team is performing.

"It's 13 goals now, so I'm happy. I'm close to my target, but the main thing for me is we keep getting the three points," he said.

"If I score it's an extra bonus, but if I don't score I don't worry as long as we keep climbing the table."

The striker also cast his eye over the clash with Peterborough on Saturday, and he feels it's vital to put in a better display than the last home fixture against Bradford City.

"Graham Westley sides are always well organised and hard to break down, so it will be a tough game," he stated.

"They're on form, they're scoring a lot of goals, so we'll have to make sure we're prepared properly and go out and give a better performance for the fans than we did against Bradford.

"The lads are all confident. We didn’t have two great results against Swindon and Bradford, but we'll put that down as a little blip and we'll look to get back-to-back wins now, against a good Peterborough side."
