The Iron picked up a 1-1 draw at home to Yeovil at Glanford Park on Saturday, thanks to Hakeeb Adelakun’s second half strike.
Joel Grant had given the visitors the lead going in at the break, but the Iron youngster netted just five minutes after coming on to grab United a point.The result means that the Iron are in 17th place and sit seven points off the play-offs, meanwhile Yeovil remain rooted to the foot of the League One table.
Elsewhere in League One, Bristol City moved eight points clear at the top following a 1-0 victory at home to Rochdale, taking advantage of MK Dons dropping points.
Aaron Wilbraham’s first half goal was enough to secure the win and moved them clear of the second placed Dons, with Karl Robinson’s side losing 2-1 at Coventry.
The Sky Blues went into the game without a manager following Steven Pressley’s dismissal, but hit the Dons with two quick goals to grab three important points in their battle against the drop.
Goals from Chris Stokes and Dominic Samuel put Coventry 2-0 up after just 12 minutes, with Daniel Powell’s second half strike just a consolation.
Preston took advantage of this by recording a comfortable 4-0 victory at Oldham, moving level on points with the second placed Dons.
Paul Huntingdon, Daniel Johnson, Joe Garner and Jermaine Beckford were all on target for the Lilywhites, who have now won five on the bounce.
Swindon lost ground as they drew 0-0 at Crewe, with both teams ending the game with 10 men. The Robins are now fourth and one point off the top two.
Sheffield United also dropped points, drawing 1-1 at Crawley, who are in 23rd place and two points off safety. The Blades remain fifth and had Marc McNulty’s late penalty to thank for their draw.
The final play-off spot is now occupied by Doncaster, after their 2-0 win at home to Colchester helped to continue their recent surge up the table. Enda Stevens and Nathan Tyson scored for Rovers.
Chesterfield are close behind as they ended a run of four straight defeats to beat Fleetwood 3-0, with the visitors reduced to 10 men following Antoni Sarcevic’s red card.
Caolan Lavery, Sam Hird and Sam Morsy were all on target for the Spireites, who are only three points off the final play-off spot.
Leyton Orient secured an important win at the bottom end of the table, but were unable to climb out of the bottom four after their 2-0 win at Walsall.
Ryan Hedges and Chris Dagnall scored for Orient, who have now won consecutive matches and are just a point from safety.
Peterborough won their first match since Darren Ferguson’s dismissal, winning 2-0 at home to Bradford, moving four points off the top six in the process.
Goals from Gaby Zakuani and a last minute penalty from Michael Bostwick sealed the victory for the Posh and moved them into 10th place, with Bradford in eighth.
Elsewhere, Barnsley made it back-to-back wins after their 1-0 triumph at Gillingham and Port Vale won by the same score at Notts County.
Next up for the Iron is a trip to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday evening, where Mark Robins’ side will be looking to return to winning ways after three games without victory.
