United saw out a 2-0 away win at Whaddon Road against Cheltenham Town on Tuesday evening.
The league's top scorer, Sam Winnall added his 20th and 21st goals of the season to give the Iron all three points and he gave his view to The Iron Player on the win that retained the status quo in the at the top of the division.He said: "I think it was just a real professional away performance. We've come to a difficult place really against a decent side. We knew we had to be at our best and today we did put in a real performance.
"It was my third brace this season and I had been on a bit of a drought going into this game without scoring in the last three games so it was nice to be back on the scoresheet. That's my job for the team, to be in the right place at the right time and thankfully I've got two for the team today.
"That was my 20th and 21st goal of the season. If someone would have offered me that at the start of the season I would have snapped their hand off. I believe its down to hard work and I've been putting the hard work in all year so I'd like to think I'm getting my rewards."
Russ Wilcox's men added their 23rd game unbeaten to equal a record that has stood for 125 years; that of the most games unbeaten by a debutant manager in league football.
He continued: "Twenty three games is half the season. It's a phenomenal achievement when you think about it.
"When you look at the games you've been in and I don't think we've even been close to losing any of them. I understand we were 2-0 down at Accrington but apart from that I can't remember where we've looked like deserving to lose.
"That's credit to all the players and the staff who are keeping on the right track and doing the right things."
The recent return to winning ways was kick-started with a win at Home Park down in the West Country according to the league's top scorer after what was at the time a disappointing run of draws, despite their negligible effect on the club's league position.
"We all want to win games, there's no better feeling than winning," he added.
"The one at Plymouth has spurred us on, it was a massive win to go all the way down there and get all three points against a side that were on form and that's helped us in these last two games. We've kept three clean sheets and we know as long as we keep clean sheets we'll score goals and win games and we've done that again tonight.
"A wins a win at any time of the season but we've put ourselves in a fantastic position with our form throughout the first 38 games and tonight we've done it again with a great win. We just need to keep going and hopefully be at the top of the table come the end of the season."
With United being the only team in and around the top sides playing away from home, Winnall saw the game as a potential pressure-point. Winning it has only served to strengthen the Iron's promotion credentials according to the former Wolves trainee.
He continued: "The pressure was on us slightly. We were the only team in and around us playing away from home tonight but we've done the business. We've sent out warning signals that we mean business and we're out to win this league not just to get promoted. As long as we keep going and doing what we're doing we're in with a good shout."
