IRON SWOOP FOR MURPHY

8 January 2015

United have completed the loan signing of Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy.

The midfielder joins on loan for an initial month, until February 7, and is in contention for the squad at Walsall this weekend.

The 19-year-old signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with the Canaries in December 2013.

In the following January, the winger then made his first-team debut as a late substitute for his brother Josh in the 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Third Round of the FA Cup.

Loan moves to Swindon Town and Southend United came subsequently, with Murphy scoring one of the goals in a 3-0 win for the latter over Rochdale in April. He made 13 appearances in total during those spells.

He then helped the Canaries Under-18s, then managed by Neil Adams, to FA Youth Cup glory in May 2013.

This season, he started the Canaries' Capital One Cup second round clash against Crawley Town.

He has also been out on loan to Championship side Blackpool, where he scored twice in nine appearances, notching in their draws against Fulham and Bolton.
