IRON SIGN JAMIE NESS

10 July 2015

The Iron have completed the signing of midfielder Jamie Ness on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old joins after leaving Stoke City and pens a two-year deal to become the Iron’s ninth summer signing joining Stephen Dawson, Scott Wiseman, Jack King, Isaac Assenso, Charlie Goode, Scott Laird, Tom Hopper and Luke Williams as the club’s new recruits ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

Jamie spent his youth career in his native Scotland with Glasgow Rangers between 2007 and 2010, turning professional in that year and subsequently made 16 appearances and scored one goal before his departure to Stoke City in 2012, to whom he signed a four-year contract.

While at Rangers, he made nine appearances for Scotland U17’s, nine appearances for Scotland U19’s, scoring one goal and two appearances for Scotland U21’s. He was named as the Scottish Premier League’s Young Player of January 2010; the same season that Rangers last won the SPL.

Loan spells at both Leyton Orient and Crewe Alexandra from the Potters over the course of the last two seasons has given the 24-year-old a near half century of appearances in SkyBet League One with a further three goals in total to his name in that time.
