IRON ODDS-ON FOR THE TITLE

24 April 2014

Leaders Scunthorpe are odds-on shots to clinch the Sky Bet League 2 title after extending their unbeaten record to 28 matches on Bank Holiday Monday.

Matt Sparrow scored the only goal of the game against Oxford to edge the Iron to within one point of securing a return to League 1.

They now lead Chesterfield and Rochdale, both 9/2 shots with Sky Bet to win the title, by two points with just two matches remaining.

The first of those games sees Russ Wilcox's men visit Exeter on Saturday. The Iron are 5/4 favourites with Exeter 21/10 and the draw is available at 9/4.

While Scunthorpe are enjoying a fantastic unbeaten run under Wilcox, opponents Exeter have failed to win in their last five and last week lost at home to bottom club Torquay.  The Iron to win to nil is available at 11/4 with Sky Bet, while draw half-time/Scunthorpe full-time is 9/2.

Exeter inflicted a crushing 4-0 victory when the sides met at Glandord Park back in October and an unlikely repeat can be backed at 100/1 with the Football League sponsor.

However, three of the previous five meetings between the sides have ended in 0-0 or 1-1 draws, which can be backed at 8/1 or 9/2 respectively.

In the goal scorer betting, Sam Winnall is 7/2 favourite with Sky Bet to break the deadlock, but if you fancy Sparrow following up his goal against Oxford he can be backed at 9/2 to net in 90 minutes.
