IRON MAKE WALLACE LOAN SWOOP

25 August 2015

The Iron have signed Huddersfield Town defender Murray Wallace on an initial one-month loan.

The Glasgow-born defender began his youth career with Rangers and Falkirk before he signed professional with the latter in 2011, subsequently making 24 appearances and scoring two goals before his move across the border to Huddersfield in January 2012 for £300,000.

He was immediately loaned back to the Scottish Division One side until the end of the season, making a further 17 appearances.

Manager Mark Robins would then work with the young defender during his time at the club between February 2013 and August 2014, with the 22-year-old making 58 appearances in all competitions for the Terriers in the three years he’s been there. This included a long stint in the side under the tenure of the current Iron boss.

Experienced in the Championship, Murray made 29 appearances for Huddersfield in 2014/15 scoring two goals.

So far this term, he’s made one first team appearance in the Capital One Cup defeat to Notts County; scoring the only Town goal in a 2-1 defeat.

Wallace’s loan expires after the away game at Southend United on Saturday, September 26 and he will take the No 23 shirt.
