IRON COMPLETE FALLON MOVE

26 September 2014

United have signed experienced striker Rory Fallon on a short-term deal.

The 32-year-old New Zealand international is a free agent, and joins the club after appearing on trial in two reserve games against Doncaster Rovers and Mansfield Town, with him scoring against the Stags.

He goes straight into the squad for Saturday's away clash at Oldham Athletic and pens a three-month contract, which will expire after the home game with Rochdale on Boxing Day.

Fallon began his career at Barnsley after moving to England, spending four years there before moving to Swindon in 2003.

The hitman moved on to Swansea City in January 2006 for £300,000 before Plymouth Argyle spent the same fee on him just a year later.

He went on to have spells at Yeovil, Aberdeen, St. Johnstone and Crawley and also notably played in the 2010 World Cup, starting all three of New Zealand’s group games as they drew against Italy, Slovakia and Paraguay.
