IRON 9/2 TO EMERGE VICTORIOUS

31 October 2014

United are 9/2 underdogs to come away from London Road with three points when they travel to Peterborough on Saturday.

Sky Bet, sponsors of the Football League, have the home side as favourites at 4/7 and a draw at 3/1.

The Posh are coming off back to back defeats, a 1-0 defeat at Crewe and a 3-2 loss at Coventry City.

Peterborough had made a flying start to the season and now sit fifth in the League One table, which is one place better than last season’s finish of sixth, which saw them qualify for the play offs.

The odds of the Iron producing a 1-0 win are 14/1 and if you think that Mark Robin’s men can inflict successive 3-2 defeats on their hosts then you can get a massive 50/1.

With the return of skipper Sam Slocombe into the Scunthorpe net, odds of a clean sheet are 5/1 or an even larger 9/1 for his side to win without conceding a goal.

Both teams to score is one of the most popular betting markets and Sky Bet are offering 8/11 for yes, meaning both teams will score, or EVENS for no, meaning at least one side keeps a clean sheet.

One man who will hope to deny Posh a clean sheet is Paddy Madden. The Irishman has found the net five times this campaign and is 17/2 to be the first goalscorer and a very high 11/4 to score anytime in the 90 minutes.

New signings Luke Williams and Isaiah Osbourne both impressed in their debuts last weekend. You can back odds of 10/1 for Williams to score the first goal at London Road or a huge 28/1 for Osbourne to get on the scoresheet first.

With two successive defeats, Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough will be keen to bounce back and usually provide a strong attacking threat. With the Iron’s own attacking line up being very strong also, this game has the possibility of lots of goals. For there to be over 3.5 goals you can get odds of 7/4 or for there to be over 4.5 goals then you can get 4/1.

With this being Mark Robins first full week to prepare for a match since taking charge, odds of 4/1 for his side to inflict a third successive defeat onto his opposite number Darren Ferguson might just be the best bet of the weekend.
