GREAT TO COME BACK INTO A BUZZING SQUAD

13 November 2015

United midfielder Luke Williams says it was devastating to pick up an injury on the opening day against Burton, but he feels he's almost back to where he wants to be.

He also revealed the excitement which had been built up over the course of pre-season vanished in that one moment at the Pirelli Stadium.

"It's been tough, after having a good pre-season," he said.

"Coming to a new club and picking up that injury on the first day of the season was devastating.

"I was as excited as I've ever been for a season to start, and the way we were talking about going about things.

"There was a real buzz around the place and that got shot down for me with the injury.

"I've worked hard and got myself back fit now, so hopefully I'll get my match fitness back and we can go from there."

Williams says it's good to be coming back into a squad which is full of confidence and winning games.

However, he did admit that getting a place in a starting eleven that's playing so well will be tough. He says it's down to him to force his way back in.

"I'm coming into buzzing squad, a confident squad. One that's playing good football, winning games, and winning games ugly as well, which is massive," he said.

"Obviously when the team is doing so well, it's hard to force your way back in, but that's down to me to try and get myself back in there."

The Iron face Swindon Town at the County Ground this Saturday, and Williams is in a confident mood ahead of the clash.

"I think it'll go good the way that we're playing at the moment. We couldn't have asked for a better run of form going into a big game against a good side," he stated.

"I think we've got more than enough than what it takes to go down there and come back with a result.

"Swindon are a good side and they play nice football, but we'll go down there thinking we can come back with all three points."
